The Scholars at Risk (SAR) Network released the report “Free to Think”

The Scholars at Risk (SAR) Network released a report entitled Free to Think, indicating that scholars, students and other members of higher education communities around the world regularly suffer violent and coercive attacks. The report, which is being released at the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva, on Tuesday 23 June, represents over four years of research by SAR’s Academic Freedom Monitoring Project. The report analyzes 333 attacks on higher education arising from 247 verified incidents in 65 countries between January 2011 and May 2015 and demonstrates the pressing need to raise awareness and document attacks on higher education. The University of Ottawa is a member of the SAR Network and shares the network's commitment to preventing attacks on higher education. The Human Rights Research and Education Centre is the lead unit in campus for the SAR program. The report is available online in English.
