Professor Penelope Simons, former Director at HRREC, attended the launch the new interdisciplinary Business and Human Rights Journal (Cambridge University Press) in Geneva on November 16th. The journal is intended to become a resource for scholarship from legal, management, social science and economics scholars. Each issue has a section dealing with developments from the field such as recent cases, reports, etc. Penelope is on the founding editorial board and can be seen in the picture with two recognized experts in the Business & Human Rights field, Professors Anita Ramasastry and Sarah Joseph.
Prof. Simons participated in the launch while attending the Forum on Business and Human Rights at the United Nations (UN) in Geneva. The forum included a range of panels looking at issues arising from the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (GPs) and other topics including: intersections with investment law and international investment arbitration, land grabbing, responsibilities of the legal profession regarding the GPs, access to remedies, human rights and climate change, among many others.
