In celebration of International Women’s Day, The Human Rights Research and Education Centre presents the show entitled: The Arts & Women’s Rights. For the occasion, four artists will explore a contemporary issue related to women’s rights through an exhibition, performance and/or discussion of their artistic work.

The artists:

  • Carmel Whittle: visual art exhibition and musical performance. Additional information
  • Jamie Koebel: Métis beadwork; "Walking with our Sisters" memorial presentation; Métis grieving dance for missing and murdered Indigenous women. Additional information and
  • Kirsten Van Houten: presentation of photos taken in Northern Uganda of women working together to promote peace
  • Susan McMaster: poetry performance of “My Mother Is Not My Child” drawn from her collection Crossing Arcs: Alzheimer’s, My Mother, and Me. Additional information
