The Human Rights Research and Education Centre and SAR uOttawa present:
Free to Think 2019:
Academic Freedom Monitoring in the Americas
Free to Think 2019 is the fifth installment of an annual report by the Scholars at Risk (SAR) Academic Freedom Monitoring Project. The project investigates and reports attacks on higher education with the aim of raising awareness, generating advocacy, and increasing protection for scholars, students, and academic communities. The report draws on data collected by different academic partners around the world to identify trends related to violent attacks on higher education communities. As a member of SAR, uOttawa participates in this initiative through the work of the Human Rights Clinic and its team of committed students. The presentation will offer a look at the main findings of the 2019 report, followed by a detailed analysis of the situation in seven countries in the America where the clinic works on.
