Nestor Nkurunziza in Tanzania

Nestor Nkurunziza, Ph.D. student in law and HRREC member at the University of Ottawa, presented at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS)’s Meeting of the African Expert Study Group on International Criminal Justice, held in Arusha-Tanzania from August 29 to September 1st, 2019. The event was part of the team’s annual meetings and peer-review sessions prior to the publication of a yearly report on key developments in areas related to international criminal justice in Africa.

Using Burundi as the main case study, Nestor discussed the challenges to implementing a ‘hybrid’ transitional justice ‘on the ground’. The full chapter will be integrated in the 2019 Collection and made available on the Rule of Law Program for Sub-Saharan Africa website.
