On the occasion of this year’s annual welcoming ceremony for the University of Ottawa’s Civil Law Section, a member of the Human Rights Research and Education Centre was awarded the Medal of the Bar of Paris as the best student in the graduate program in law.
Benoît Frate received the prestigious award from Christiane Feral-Schuhl, Barrister-elect of the Paris Bar. The medal rewards Mr. Frate’s Master of Laws thesis (in French) entitled “Municipal Governments and International Human Rights Law: an exploratory analysis of recent practice”, written under the supervision of Professor Lucie Lamarche, Director of the HRREC.
Benoît is now enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of Ottawa and will expand his research to a greater number of actors from the urban sphere. He holds a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada scholarship.
