Human Rights Film Festival
The University of Ottawa Human Rights Film Festival started in 2013 with the objective of showing compelling human rights issues through screenings of Canadian and international films and documentaries.
Among the topics presented are stories of war crimes and trauma, depression, violence against women, gender, globalization, aboriginal rights, political conflict as well as poverty. The selected films aim to touch everyone on a personal level and the screenings are followed by discussions led by the films’ creators, actors, community organizations and experienced scholars. The Festival normally includes specialized workshops on the use of film for advocacy and campaign work.
