On November 7, 2019, Siobhán Airey successfully defended her doctoral thesis on the international governance of Official Development Assistance (ODA or development aid). Titled “Auras of legality – the jurisdiction and juridical nature of the international governance of Official Development Assistance,” her thesis examines the role of law in, and the legal quality of the international governance of ODA. She claims that ODA is a key instrument of global governance because of the legal quality of its governance framework, and she captures and analyses this governance of/by ODA dynamic via concepts of jurisdiction and the governance signature of ODA. Her thesis is nominated for a prize. Currently Siobhán is Marie Skłodowska-Curie Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in UCD Dublin, focusing on the governance of Blended Finance for development.
