Scholars at Risk and the Human Rights Clinic of the HRREC submitted an Amicus Curiae before the Colombian Constitutional Court to help decide on a case that deals with academic freedom. The case refers to a professor of the University of Ibagué who was allegedly dismissed for reporting a series of incidents of sexual harassment and the lack of institutional policies on these issues. The organizations subscribing this document are asking that, if a violation of academic freedom is determined, the professor should be reinstated in her job, the University of Ibagué should design and adopt a protocol for preventing, reporting, and managing similar cases; and the Colombian government should conduct formal research on the issue of sexual violence in Colombian universities.
