Salvador Herencia, Ph.D. candidate and Director of the Human Rights Clinic at HRREC, published an Op-ed in the Peruvian newspaper El Peruano. The piece comments on the recent announcement made by the Peruvian Government that the new National Human Rights Plan (2017-2021) will have a component on business and human rights. The article summarizes some of the efforts from other countries to adopt National Action Plans (NAP) and highlights their shortcomings. In the midst of the corruption scandal affecting Brazilian construction companies all over Latin America, the article concludes with a recommendation to focus this NAP on anti-corruption practices and its impacts on human rights.
