Academic Freedom in Venezuela: Crisis Affecting Scholars and Students

This virtual panel-discussion has as a goal to raise awareness about the severe crisis affecting the university sector in Venezuela, and explore ways to help scholars and students. Professors Mayda Hocevar (Director, University of Los Andes Observatory of Human Rights), David Gómez Gamboa (Director, Aula Abierta and University of Zulia Human Rights Commission), Benjamin Scharifker (Rector-President, Metropolitan University), and Jesse Levine (Senior Advocacy Officer, Scholars at Risk Network) have confirmed their participation as panelists.

This even is organized in partnership with Scholar at Risk Canada and the Canada Venezuela Democracy Forum, in coalition with the Scholar at Risk Network, the NGO Aula Abierta, University of Los Andes Human Rights Observatory and University of Zulia Human Rights Commission.
